5Cs

Charisma is overrated. Being inspirational can be learned.

My research found the most inspiring leaders share something quiet: Centeredness. They choose their response when pressure hits. And they use this to inspire their people and create strong culture.

They build centeredness through five things. I call them the 5Cs:

– Character: Who are we when it costs us?
– Connection: How do we treat people?
– Craft: How do we create clarity and excel?
– Cause: Who is this for and why does it matter?
– Change: How do we stay significant?

Three separate paths led me here. One started by categorizing the published values of high-performing companies. One with what people need to feel valued and engaged at work. One by researching what the most inspiring and impactful leaders do differently. All three landed on the same five.

Impactful leaders build the 5Cs in themselves. This allows them to build them in their people. Their people practice them to build them into their culture. Pair that with accountability, and inspiration turns into performance.

And the kicker is that you can be a top performer in just one or two of them to get results better than 90% of your peers.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll dig deeper and explain how you can become a top-tier inspirational leader, even if you weren’t born with innate charisma, extroversion, or other conventional leadership strengths.
