I really don’t believe much in Gartner Research. Their business model is corrupt. Pay them and then they will evaluate you and pay them more, and they’ll tell you what to say and what direction to go in… such that you can get into the ‘right’ quadrant. Obviously IBM and Oracle pay a lot to get where they are in the matrix! There are other business models of companies that do the same thing as Gartner which I prefer where they would have no bias toward those with money paying them to evaluate their products/services.
